Diamonds Are Forever And So Are Scams

An eventful week that went by, began with a deadly wink and ended in a disastrous hoodwink. Alas! One more scam. The metal may be different but it is making the average Indians mettle as strong as diamond. If one had to be true to the header, the fearlessness/boldness and sheer audacity with which Indian businessman have started looting and escaping, is quite shocking to say the least. Is democracy all about questioning and adding to the woes of the common man? Is a lame duck judiciary been hatching eggs on cases, as shit loads of new ones pile up every day?

The cocktail of corrupt judiciary along with equally corrupt bureaucrat setup, adds up to a fine blend in the nexus between the politician, banker and the businessman. Stock owners and stake holders in the PNB are a bunch of silent sufferers for it is been a week and I see no protest or dharna in the open. The voice of the masses has been trampled by the force of the classes and democracy is dying a silent death. It was mid 80s and 90s when we saw skeletons emerging in the name of big scams ( Bofors and the Fodder scams) and 3 decades after the eruption of such large scale international scams, the culprits are still at large or out on bail. The meritocracy principle does not apply in the case of a celebrity, politician or big business honcho’s. The aam adami suffers for as petty as an error of not linking his Aadhar with his bank account. It is almost that you to give endless number of documents which should be proof enough that you do not need a loan to get one.

How funny was it the other day when I heard the PNB chairmen briefing the media that their exposure to the Nirav Modi group business is roughly under Rs.1100 crores, without any security. Having failed to create a charge, before lending my hard earned money makes them equally accountable to my capital loss and they are fully responsible to make good the loss that is going to occur in the coming quarters.

A nation that does dharna for non-conducting events like Jallikattu rarely comes out in open against national economic crimes. Governments after governments have been mute spectators to this regular and similar unfolding drama of loot and scoot, whether it is Vijay Malaya, Lalith Modi or Nirav Modi. The Narendra modi is and his bhais have done nothing beyond lip service. What makes it all the more funny is that whether it is cinemas, dramas or real life, in India the police, CBI or any authority only comes after the dacoit escapes.
